Our street and road improvement experience ranges from design of roadway geometrics to bridges. Storm sewer projects include design of storm sewer systems, culvert extensions and channel improvements.

Representative Projects:
Ries Road Project - This is a 1.2 mile arterial road improvement project upgrading a 2 lane road with side ditches to a 24 foot wide road with curb and gutters, sidewalks and storm sewers. The project included right-of-way and permanent easement acquisition, geometric design and construction cost estimates. The sewers ranged in size from 12 inch to 36 inch diameter, also cross road culverts 6’ high by 12’ wide. Traffic signal improvements and intersection design for the area of Ries Road at Oak Street was a part of the project; since this involved FHWA and MoDOT funding the plans, specifications and easements were reviewed and approved by MoDOT.
Route 47 Improvements – This is a 0.12 mile section of widening improvements State Route 47 of form Interstate Highway 70 to Old Highway 40 in the City of Warrenton, for the Missouri Department of Transportation. This project included storm sewers, pavement widening, geometric design for the intersection with Old Highway 40, 13 commercial entrances, right-of-way acquisition, and easements.
I-44 Widening – This project involved widening to 3 lanes both sides of divided I-44 from Allenton road to Route 109, 7 miles long in St. Louis County. Pavement widening geometrics, storm sewers, grading, special provisions and MoDOT cost estimates. Construction phasing and traffic control during construction, including signing and traffic control barriers were required.
Ramsey Lane Culvert Replacement – The project involved replacing an existing 32’ long steel deck bridge with an 8’ opening over Fishpot Creek as it crosses Ramsey Lane in the City of Ballwin, with a triple 8’x12’ precast concrete box culvert. This required a HEC-2 hydraulic study and a flood study of the creek flow to confirm that the hydraulic grade line of the 100 year frequency storm did not increase. There were creek channel improvements included which provided the appropriate creek cross section.
Country Club Drive Water Main – This is a water transmission main extension that included 3800 feet of a 16 inch cast iron main to be installed along a residential street in the City of St. Charles. The project required a profile of the main to verify clearance of other utilities, sanitary sewer, and other water mains. Several easements were required and details of driveway approaches and tunneling under existing cross streets.
Clayton Joint Use Recreational Center—Civil/site design for 9.0 acre site in the City of Clayton which included a recreational building, indoor pool, athletic fields, 400 car parking area, entrance road from Gay Avenue, utility connections, storm water detention, and significant grading with some modular block walls.
The Point Recreational Center—Civil/site design for 22 acre site in Ballwin, Missouri, for a recreational center building which included a recreational center building, tennis courts, related parking, user/bus drop off cul-de-sac, utility services, storm water detention and site grading for future facilities.
Lemay Park - Working for the St. Louis County Parks & Recreation Dept., Clayton Engineering performed civil/site design for a 6.0 acre site in the flood plain of the Mississippi River which included picnic shelters, multi use pathways, future play areas, utility services, related parking, and entrance roads from county roadways.
Partridge Park - Civil/site design for 6.0 acre park in University City, Missouri, improvements which included aesthetic lake, walking pathway, play area, related parking, and utility services.
Shaw Park - Civil/site design for new tennis courts (16 courts), recondition and upgrading the outdoor ice skating rink, site grading and erosion control, with some related parking and entrance roads in this Clayton, Missouri, park. |
